When we first began talking about this website, one of the issues we covered was security and privacy.  We wanted to provide a way for all our families to talk with each other.  But we wanted to be able to do that in a safe, controlled way.  We wanted to share our address book information, pictures, announcements, and recipes with family ... but not with the world.  So we quickly decided to make our web site accessible to everyone but keep strangers out while letting Stranges in.  The only way today to accomplish that is with user accounts and logins.  For more details on how this works, see the Website News in the forum.
